THE BEATLES

Who doesn't know the Beatles, if you don't you've been really living under a rock. The Beatles was a English band formed back in 1960 in Liverpool. They were young teenage musicians trying to make it big, there was John Lennon who played guitar and keyboards,Paul McCartney who played the bass, piano, and guitar, he made Hofner violin bass his trade mark even today people relate the violin bass to him, there was George Harrison the lead guitarist who joined the band when he was just 14, he was young but very talented, his guitar work is iconic and shaped way for many young guitarists who drove inspiration from him, and finally Ringo Starr the bands drummer, who joined the band in 1962 replacing Pete Best the prior drummer of the Beatles
.
The band started off with their debut album  "Please Please me", later followed by five albums like "A hard days night", "Beatles for sale" and "Help!". All these albums consisted of 'rock and roll' ,' pop-rock' love songs which the band was known for.

In 1966 after a small tour in India the band took a grave turn in their music and behavior the band started playing Psychedelic rock, it all started in "Revolver" which held the psychedelic great's like "Eleanor Rigby", "tomorrow never knows"  and  "Yellow Submarine". Later in next albums came tracks like "Magical mystery Tour", "I Am The Walrus" and then in 1967 they made "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band", the album is my personal favorite Beatles album, This album is so great that it sits comfortably on number one spot on the Rolling stones "500 best albums of all time".

Only two Beatles survive today Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. John Lennon was shot in December 1980 by  Mark David Chapman , and George Harrison died by cancer in November 2001.

Many say The Beatles are overrated, i disagree, this band has made 13 albums and all were great they have experimented with their sound to epic proportions and are certainly a band who has paved the way for many bands which took inspiration from them, Beatles music is evergreen and it won't ever die.

LED ZEPPELIN

If there was ever a band which was perfect in every way possible its Zeppelin. The band was a brain child of Yardbirds guitarist Jimmy page, Who had already met John Paul Jones the brilliant bassist and keyboard player. They needed a vocal and that's when they found Robert Plant who was just perfect for the part, Plant later recommended John Bonham for the drummers place, and there, formed a magical band, "A band that will become so tight that not even a air molecule could pass through."

The band was destined for greatness with mind blowing voice of plant, the thundering drums of Bonham, the eargasmic riffs and solos of Page and with the Groovy and smooth bass of John Paul Jones.

The band was a instant success with their first album "Led Zeppelin" , it was a very tight debut album with songs like 'good times bad times' showcasing the hard rock vibe of the band and also songs like 'you shook me' and  'I can't quit you babe' showcasing the bluesy riffs and psychedelic groove.
The band kept climbing the commercial ladder till there were no competitors, they sold out stadiums after stadiums.

Led Zeppelin dominated a decade with their awesome music.

Then the tragedy struck on 25th of September 1980, John Bonham passed away in his sleep, the cause of the death was  asphyxiation from vomit,
Bonham was the backbone of the band, there was no and never will be a drummer like him in this world and the band knew this better than anyone, Led zeppelin broke up after Bonham's demise, and this is why they were the 'tightest band in the world'.

In 1982 'CODA' an album containing bands unreleased tracks was released.

Here are my top ten favorite Led zeppelin songs, This will be hard as i love almost all of them :)

1) No Quarter
2) When the levee breaks
3) Kashmir
4) Stairway to heaven
5) Ramble on
6)What is and what should never be
7) All of my love
8) Immigrant song
9) Going to California
10) Gallows pole

The Grateful Dead

                                                                         Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead is an American rock band formed in 1965, the band played melodic blend of rock, folk, blues, country and also psychedelic and space rock.

The band sounds amazing in their studio albums but, it shows us its true brilliance in their live performances. The band almost always played their songs differently when live.

The founding members of the band were  Jerry Garcia (guitar, vocals), Bob Weir (guitar, vocals), Ron "Pigpen" McKernan (keyboards, harmonica, vocals), Phil Lesh (bass, vocals), and Bill Kreutzmann (drums).
After all these years the band still plays but without Jerry Garcia, he passed away in augest 1995.
The current line up consists of Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mikey hart.
